Treatment of Root Canals

The treatment of root canals or, also known as the Endodontic treatment, is a procedure in which damaged internal tooth tissue (pulp) is treated. Endodontic treatment is needed after deep caries, dental injuries, bacteria penetrating the pulp tissues. If not treated in time, the pulp has to be removed, as a result the infection spreads, an abscess forms and, as the disease progresses, a cyst. Treatment of dental canals prevents the spread of infection, stops damage to the tissues of the jaw, apical surrounding. Upon timely arrival at the clinic, the progression of the disease is stopped, making it possible to preserve the root of the tooth.

Stages of dental root canal treatment

1. The treated tooth is isolated with a rubber dam that protects the tissues surrounding the tooth.
   
   
2. The dental canals are then cleaned mechanically and washed with antibacterial agents.
   
   
3. Later, usually during the next visit, the canals are sealed with liquid gutta-percha. This protects the dental canal from food debris and, at the same time, from bacterial penetration and associated inflammation. First the canal is filled, then the tooth itself or, if the lesions are very large, the tooth crown is produced.
